Ma'ti'hab Gunship History
The Ma'ti'hab Gunship was designed to train gunners in the use of plasma weapons. Since there was little difference in the operation of the older and seldom used Light Plasma Cannon and that of the heavier varieties, this was the weapon of choice for training academies.
The Urik'hal hull was chosen to become a training vessel for many reasons. It was designed from the ground up as a warship and so it was sturdier than other make-shift conversions and able to handle the rigors of constant battle drills. It could mount an impressive number of the small plasma cannons maximizing the number of trainees that could practice at the same time. It is also a fast and maneuverable ship able to quickly perform practice missions, and lastly, being a small ship it did not require as large of a crew to maintain and operate.
Rules: When these vessels are encountered the weapons are often crewed by trainees who are not accustomed to actual combat. Any time an 18 or higher is rolled for an attack, the gunner has made a mistake and the weapon being fired automatically misses.
