Shiv'ta Armed Hauler History
Produced in vast numbers, the hauler was a cheap space to surface cargo transport found at nearly every outpost in known space. The sale of these ships has been the single most profitable Pak'ma'ra venture since before the Dilgar War. Their military use was not seen until the end of the Dilgar War when hundreds were pressed into service and retrofitted with armaments and armor. Though they had powerful engines for their original task, these haulers were not built with the heavy maneuvering thrusters of military craft and so were sluggish in comparison to other race's gunboats (non-agile). Most of the original conversions of the armed haulers were destroyed during the war but their effectiveness was remembered and many more were converted as the Shadow War escalated.
